What We Are Called To Do...

Revealed Heart Ministries was created due to a continuing urgent need for emotional and spiritual healing in the Christian community, and our focus is on healing the broken hearted and wounded, and setting the spiritual captives free. One particular area of healing needed is from spiritual abuse/control and spiritual neglect or abandonment. We also seek to train and raise up leaders, who are truly servants, as Ephesians 4:11-16 instructs. We believe in the church functioning in the full anointing that comes with having all five ministry gifts (see verse mentioned) in place and working, which allows for Christ's healing, nurturing, deliverance, salvation, and growth to full stature to manifest.

Revealed Heart Ministries gets its name from the words of Simeon about Jesus, found in Luke 2:33-35. He told Mary "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed." Though this ministry, not only is the heart of Jesus revealed, but He reveals the hearts of others through it. When the prophetic gift is in operation, it is the expression of Jesus' heart to his people, and this is a beautiful way His heart is revealed!

The Lord uses Revealed Heart Ministries in several ways to accomplish this mission-- through therapeautic pastoral counseling and prayer ministry, through the prophetic (music, word, and action), through anointed worship, through literature, through networking and through teaching. The manifested presence of the Holy Spirit is both welcomed and desired at RHM gatherings and sponsored events, and miracles, healings, signs and wonders are common and expected. Jesus Christ ALONE is glorified!

Revealed Heart Ministries (RHM) was founded in Topeka, Kansas in 2001 by Kathryn and David van Rooyen . Kathryn was the founder and director of Intensive Care Ministries (founded 1992) and Truth Grace and Fire Ministries, which was an expansion of Intensive Care Ministries, which was originally established in Houston, TX. She began a grief and trauma resolution pastoral counseling ministry in 1983, which became Watered Gardens Ministry Center in 1990 and remains as part of RHM. David, who the Lord drew to Topeka from England, spent many years in ministry and as a head teacher (principal) of a Christian School, as well as being an anointed worship leader, counselor, and musician. God relocated both of these devoted people to Topeka through a supernatural chain of events, and ultimately brought them together for His glory and His purposes and have relocated them and the ministry of Revealed Heart to Tazewell, Virginia. Together, they bring approximately sixty years of ministerial experience, anointing and expertise to this ministry, and they eagerly seek to do even more for the Lord!

The Lord gave a vision to Kathryn about a hub and spokes coming from the hub, and showed her that each of the five spokes represented one of the fivefold ministry gifts as described in Ephesians 4:11-16. (This is our mission verse.) Much of the teaching that she does on the leadership of the church is based on this vision. Each gift mentioned in Ephesians 4 is represented by a specific color, which is displayed in our ministry flag below:

Apostle-red (warfare, passion, zeal)
Prophet-purple (royalty, set apart)
Evangelist-green (life, everlasting)
Pastor-blue (healing, comfort)
Teacher- yellow (illumination)

Pastor Kathryn holds an honorary doctorate in divinity and has a has developed a variety of seminars, including Healing for the Walking Wounded, Rebuilding the Ancient Ruins, and Understanding and RELEASING the Prophetic. She has also founded and taught a school of ministry, and ministers wherever asked, regardless of the meeting size. Kathryn has authored several books/booklets, which are available through Revealed Heart Ministries . One particularly popular one is WHO TOLD YOU YOU WERE NAKED?, written about shame. When Pastor David is not teaching high school math or music, he ministers prophetically on the keyboard/piano, saxophone, and clarinet. He and Kathryn minister as a team, and are available to minister in worship when invited. They also are available to hold workshops, conferences, and training.
