Credentials Available From I CAN Affiliate (credentials with another organization but desires to be part of I CAN) I CAN has made available ministerial credentials to those whom the Lord has brought across our paths that are in need of this recognition. We know clearly that God is the only one who can truly ordain, and unless He has first ordained, any man's recognition is in vain.
This Network is birthed out of a need for a place for those who are called into ministry to have relationship, covering, accountability, fellowship, and validation. Our particular focus is to those who are called to the wounded: those in recovery or seeking recovery from trauma, abuse, addictions, and grief & loss. We understand that "bruised reeds" must be carefully and sensitively handled. (Isaiah 42:3)
As a Licensed and/or Ordained I CAN Minister You will be licensed to perform all the duties of an ordained minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. You will be granted the rights and privileges of such: solemnize the rite of marriage, conduct funeral services and administer the ordinances of the church, such as baptism and communion.
You will enjoy all these privileges so long as the Scriptural standard of teaching and conduct is maintained. This ordination must be surrendered upon request should any sinful practices or reproachful conduct be detected. Ministers of Jesus Christ must serve others and God, and live beyond reproach. Ministers must endeavor to live transparently and openly before others, and also must take seriously the responsibility of being a representative of Christ. You not only represent Christ, but I CAN and ICM.
This license/ordination does not constitute legal responsibility of I CAN or Revealed Heart Ministries if said minister is brought into a lawsuit or legal matter. This is not a blanket approval, but recognition of God's call and hand on the life of the minister, and the gifts within the minister. I CAN will be released from all liability in any personal decision or action that the minister may take, either professionally or personally. I CAN and RHM are acting in good faith in assisting fellow ministers reach the hurting with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Anyone affiliated with I CAN must first have a personal, intimate and vital relationship with the Lord, and a longing to see others enter in to the same. Anyone affilitated with us must be in agreement with our statement of faith, and our mission statement. See Links below. This membership in the Network is for those who are already ordained through other organizations or ministries but would like to be a part of what I CAN stands for and what I CAN is doing. They will be able to participate as a full member, and networking with other like-minded and like-hearted ministers. There is a nominal annual renewal fee. The required reading list for licensing will also be expected of any newly ordained minister. The expectations are the same. A Ministerial Ordination credential through I CAN is valid for two years, with renewal at the end of each one-year period. (See renewal procedure at end of this document.) At the end of each two-year period, re-evaluation for continuing ordination must occur. After having completed four years of successful ministry, the minister need only submit an annual update of the state of their ministry, and a request for renewal.
To be ordained through I CAN, one must have a proven anointing and ministry for a minimum of one year to three years. Under normal circumstances, one must be licensed for two years prior to being considered for ordination. It should be apparent to all that know you that you are a servant of God and of man, and live a lifestyle that reflects such.
As an ordained minister through I CAN, you will have access to other ministers and leaders for fellowship, accountability, and consultation. A peer minister will be assigned to be available to you for this purpose. You will need only to submit a yearly report for the first four years. After that, a simple letter of update and request for renewal is all that is required. A Ministerial license through I CAN is valid for one year, with re-evaluation and renewal at the end of each year. Each licensed minister must submit a quarterly report to I CAN during the first year and then an annual report at renewal time each year thereafter.
There is a list of required reading that will be given to each licensed minister, which must be read within the first year before renewal can occur. These books and materials are directly related to helping the minister and those to whom he/she ministers.
As a licensed minister, you will be placed under the oversight of an ordained minister of I CAN and this minister will be available to you for prayer, counsel, consultation, and direction. This minister will exhort, edify, encourage and comfort you as you begin your walk in ministry. This overseer minister will be assigned by the leadership of ICAN. You will be given opportunities to minister with Revealed Heart Ministries, as well as given opportunities for training and education through RHM. RHM holds conferences and meetings in which you will be allowed to minister and participate. You will also be able to have other ministers or ministries call us to verify your credentials and character.
One seeking ministerial credentials must be able to exhibit a call of God on their lives, and it must be evident in their lives. For example, one who feels called to preach yet who has never written a sermon or preached is most likely not ready for ministry credentials. There should be a proven anointing for a minimum of six months to a year.
When possible, a licensed minister of I CAN should attend as many ICM functions and meetings as reasonable. Of course, this does not apply to those who do not live near the RHM headquarters in Tazewell County,Virginia. This credential is specifically for those who feel called to minister to others in a non-pastoral capacity, such as a mental health professional, church leader (not pastor), or any other kind of ministry. The Lay Minister is one who desires to grow in their own recovery and also readily administer God's grace and truth to those whose lives they touch. This credential is renewable yearly, with a bi-annual report to be submitted (once every 6 months after receiving credentials). This entitles the Lay Minister to participate in any I CAN or RHM function as a full member, and may enjoy the benefits of such (newsletters, training opportunities, ministry opportunities, etc.) As a Lay Minister, relationship with others who are licensed or ordained will be made available to you. Every effort to help you minister to others more effectively will be taken. |
